Issue Position

Education is the new world currency; therefore Credo Amouzovik recognizes the value of education as the key to success, both for individuals and for our nation. The G.I. Bill, first put in place in 1944, represented the single largest investment in higher education ever, and it helped create the modern middle class in America. We believe that this important program must be strengthened.
To have a strong economy, we need a strong education system. Therefore, we need to revise our education system; and we all know "Education is the new world currency.

We need to invest in and improve our public education system. To make our state more successful and more competitive, Tennessee has begun to implement the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program in our schools. STEM graduates usually qualify for educational scholarships.

However, many of these programs were allocated with limited funding and are in danger of being shut down. Credo supports not only extending federal funding for public school and the STEM programs throughout the district, but continuing the funding required for our students to excel and compete in a global economy.
Credo Amouzovik will support and require funding for the "Race to the Top" program and provide teachers with more professional support and resources, while also holding them accountable. President Obama instituted "Race to the Top," a revolutionary program designed to promote innovation and provide incentives for improvement in education. As a result, already over a dozen states have made changes to increase standards and implement reforms.
As the global marketplace grows more competitive, we need to expand opportunities for higher education and job training. Democrats are committed to increasing the college-completion rate as well as the share of students who are prepared for budding industries with specific job-related skills.

Credo recognizes education as the most pressing economic issue in America's future, and we cannot allow our country to fall behind in a global economy. We must prepare the next generation for success in college and the workforce, ensuring that American children once again become global leaders in creativity and achievement.
